Studio Props & Inspiration



I love to visit little boutiques and re-sale shops and am always on the lookout for great studio props and wanted to share a few of my latest treasures and at the same time give you a little inspiration for your future photo sessions.  

I gave the old chair an updated fresh coat of paint, perfect for the little "fashionista" with a petty skirt or for a birthday photo session, I think it adds both color and whimsy.  Pillows set the tone and style when used in a portrait, and the bright pink pillow with feathers will add the perfect touch to someone's session.  The antique paper umbrella was a find at $1.00 that I just couldn't pass up and it will add a nice touch of color in the background.  My santa suit offers a lot of options for that traditional holiday portrait, I visualize a daddy holding a new baby or with the little ones with their Christmas list and a plate of cookies for santa.   My santa suit can also be used for your holiday boudoir session, add a little lace and lingerie and it's the perfect gift for the special man in your life.    Click here for more studio props.

Boyd & Jenny's Twins

Meet Jack and Elizabeth just two weeks old, and to think they made their arrival 23 days early, amazing!  I loved watching the body language between the two and their distinct personalities already show in many ways, and catching quiet moments with these two was a job because they were so awake, alert and active. These's something so special about the first fleeting days of life . . . take in these moments, savor each one, because tomorrow they will be different and changed.  Thank you for allowing me to capture this special time for you with your precious little ones.  To view more from Jack and Lizzy's session click here.  

Skye Third Birthday Session

Skye here is your sneek peak, hope you like them! 

I am beginning to learn something about three years olds, as I've had a few sessions recently.  The one thing I've learned is . . . they are all different!  Each one has their own distinct personality and traits and they are the boss.  Rules don't apply and I just follow them around with my finger on the camera shutter; I have to be quick to capture these little angels and there's no room for tripods during a three year old session! I also like to include a few meltdown pictures for a chuckle after it's all over.  Thanks to grandmother and mom for scheduling Skye's birthday session and putting together all the great outfits and accessories, it made for a great session.

Ashley & AJ Maternity Session

Ashley here is your sneek peak . . . hope you love them!   This photo session was compliments of a gift certificate for Ashley and  AJ's baby shower that included a photo session, coffee table book and prints, a gift that will be treasure for years to come.  Ashley was so much fun to work with and brought lots and lots of great outfits to select from.  I used high key lighting and it made for some dynamic photographs.  Ashley craves cupcakes and we used them in her photo shoot while she nibbled away.   Your little baby girl is so lucky to have parents like the two of you.  Thanks to Denese C. for assisting.  Click here to see more from Ashley & AJ's session.  

Meet Kayla

Here's a sneak peek at Kayla's first portrait session.  Kayla's grandmother put together some wonderful outfits and accessories and planned a great day for her grandaughters first portrait session. Kayla was the happiest, most expressive, animated and entertaining three year old I have ever worked with, her expressions changed minute to minute and I never knew what I would see through the camera lens.  Thanks Kayla for a great day, I hope it was as much fun for you as it was for me!  To vew more photos from Kayla's session click here.

The Studio

I have been busy doing some work in the studio lately, moving furniture, installing hooks in the changing room to hang clothes on, updating photo displays, hanging display shelves and just general organizing and thought it was time I took some photos to share.  Here are a few shots of the portrait area, more to come as I finish up some of my projects.  Click the "Studio" tab at the top of the homepage for more studio photos.  
   

Jenny Maternity

This was a very special maternity session, the mommy and daddy are expecting twins!  How exciting!  I am honored they chose me to capture this special time in their lives and look forward to their little ones arrival.  Mommy is just glowing and so beautiful.  For more photographs from this session click here. 

New Studio Props

I love finding great props for the studio.  Recently I found a great chase and a childrens rocking chair, two items I have been looking for for quite awhile.  I plan to use them both in the next few weeks so check back later to see a cute little three year old in the rocker and a maternity session with the chase.
